The Madison Heights Community Foundation (MHCF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit. We are committed to making a lasting impact on our city by fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable community. Through strategic investments and meaningful partnerships, we aim to improve the quality of life for Madison Heights residents. The foundation, born from the generous support of the marijuana facility company donations, focuses on initiatives that celebrate arts and culture, enhance downtown vitality, promote sustainability, and much more. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected Madison Heights.

How to Apply:

In 2025, the MHCF grant program is scheduled to accept grants during two open application periods. Grants may be submitted in either period for projects to be completed no later than December 31, 2025.

First Grant Period - Now through May 15, 2025

Second Grant Period - August 15 - September 15, 2025

Grant Policy Overview:

The MHCF grant program empowers local non-profit organizations, schools, and city departments to create transformative projects that benefit the Madison Heights community. We focus on strategic areas such as community placemaking, economic development, parks and recreation, engaging seniors, civic engagement, sustainability, and arts and culture. Grants are awarded to initiatives that align with our mission of enhancing the city's vibrancy and fostering meaningful connections.

Eligible Criteria Language:

Organizations must meet the following requirements to qualify for MHCF grants:

  • Be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, governmental entity, or educational institution.

  • Serve Madison Heights or directly benefit its residents.

  • Demonstrate a track record of fiscal responsibility and successful project execution.

  • Align with MHCF’s core focus areas:

    • Community Placemaking

    • Downtown Vitality

    • Parks and Recreation

    • Sustainability

    • Engaging Seniors

    • Economic Development

    • Civic Engagement

    • Arts and Culture

Grant Exclusions:

Grants cannot fund:

  • Religious purposes or activities promoting specific beliefs.

  • Organizations with discriminatory practices.

  • Individual financial assistance or scholarships.

  • Political activities, lobbying, or administrative costs unrelated to project delivery.

  • Debt repayment or event with cash prizes.

Completed Projects:

MHCF takes pride in supporting impactful projects that shape Madison Heights into a thriving community. Here are some examples of initiatives we've funded:

    • Public murals at Rosie’s Park and Huffman Park.

    • 2021-2024 Sponsorship of Juneteenth (annual donations since 2021) $13,523 in total

    • 2021-2024 Sponsorship of Trail Tunes (annual donations since 2021)  $13,500 in total

    • 2024 Sponsorship Revin’ in the Heights $5,000

    • Tree Planting on Moulin $7,000

    • Fitness Court at Huffman $23,500 (grant match)

    • Library Markers Space Equipment $15,000
